Anal sex
Anal sex is when a penis enters the anus. People of any gender or sexual orientation may choose to have anal sex.
It carries a higher risk of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) because the lining of the anus is thin and can easily be damaged.
STIs and infections that can be passed on include:
- Chlamydia
- Genital herpes
- Genital warts
- Gonorrhoea
- HIV
- Syphilis
- Hepatitis C
